Lower Extremity Reconstruction

Lower extremity reconstruction involves a variety of procedures for a variety of needs. This type of reconstruction is frequently used for issues such as chronic non-healing wounds and traumatic injuries. Although not a comprehensive list, some of the treatments involved may include local flaps, free flap reconstruction, skin grafts, or amputation when necessitated.

Additionally, Drs. Mehan and Johnson are known for using Integra™, an advanced wound care product designed to provide coverage of exposed bone, tendon, cartilage, and joints, and encourage healing of open wounds. Again, optimizing functionality is the main goal of this reconstruction with a secondary goal being cosmesis.
