Brighten Your Face with Blepharoplasty

Learn About the Blepharoplasty Procedure

Blepharoplasty Fairfax VAGet a brighter, more youthful appearance with blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty is a procedure that eliminates droopy eyelids by repositioning excess skin, muscle, and fat. Besides making you look younger, this procedure may also help improve your peripheral vision as sagging skin may impede or reduce your side vision. Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper or lower eyelid on one or both eyes.

Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

If you’re over the age of 40, you’re most likely a good candidate. With age, your eyelids stretch and muscles supporting them grow weaker. Because of this, excess fat may gather below and above eyelids causing eyebrows and upper lids to sag and also create bags under your eyes.

This procedure is popular with both men and women. Aging in the eyes shows no preference for gender and men and women are both equally interested in this procedure. Your eyes are the focal point of the face, so anything that makes them look younger can make you look younger overall.

You may not be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if you have eye diseases or other eye issues you need addressing beforehand.

What is Recovery From Eyelid Surgery Like?

Recovery from eyelid surgery is one of the easiest cosmetic surgery recoveries. It is an outpatient procedure, meaning you’ll be able to go home right away. We’ll provide you with a cold compress and lubricant eye drops. With diligent use of the cold compress, you can keep swelling and bruising to a minimum. Pain should not be intense after your procedure and generally be handled using over-the-counter medication. Your stitches will be removed after one week and your recovery is then mostly complete. Light swelling may occur for the next few weeks but should resolve on its own.

How Soon After My Eyelid Surgery Will I See Results?

You should see the results immediately. Of course, there is some recovery time and swelling in the first few days but after a week or so, the results will be obvious but not dramatic. The best part about this procedure is how natural the results are. If you haven’t told someone about your surgery, they might not even know you had work done, they’ll just admire your more youthful appearance.
